The Arizona market is the largest black market in North Bosnia, founded
by the SFOR troops after the war on the "Arizona Road". Here more than
5000 people offer wares, from clothes to bathtubs. The self
organisation and regulation of the black market, its dense structure,
and its status as the largest employer in the region conflict with the
shopping centre planned by the government. "Learning from
Arizona-Market" shows two models: that of the self organised and
developed city Arizona market, a structure which has developed out of
free rules of appropriation of land, and the model of the follow-up
project planned for this place, the shopping mall developed "on the
drawing board", "Italoproject". Apart from the documentary-analytic
investigation of the city planning phenomenon "Arizona- Market" using
video, it questions the transformation of an informal to a
reformalised city planning structure.
